What this skill controls
Your ability to locate facts, follow connections, and infer meaning from context.
A reading gap reduces speed and makes instructions, study material, and exam passages more tiring than they need to be.
A practical learning loop
Read one short level-matched text daily: predict, skim for the main idea, scan for evidence, then summarize without looking.
- Begin with one short level-matched example.
- Mark the exact point where meaning or accuracy breaks down.
- Apply one correction rule to several new examples.
- Retrieve the skill later without looking at the model.
- Record whether the error disappeared, changed, or repeated.
Adjust the task to your level
At A1 and A2, use short concrete material and frequent retrieval. At B1, connect ideas across longer tasks. At B2, increase range, nuance, density, and time pressure without sacrificing explanation.
Do not increase every difficulty at once. Change one variable—length, vocabulary range, sentence complexity, or time—so you can identify what improved.
How to measure improvement
- Accuracy improves on a fresh sample, not only on repeated items.
- Completion time falls without a drop in understanding.
- You can explain the rule or evidence before seeing the options.
- The skill transfers to a task connected to work, study, travel, conversation, or an exam.
