PMP Exam Domains

Understand the current PMP domains, how their tasks interact, and how to turn a domain gap into focused scenario practice.

What the domain covers

People

Leadership, team performance, conflict, and stakeholder engagement.

A gap here leads to premature escalation, directive responses, or missed opportunities to coach and resolve issues collaboratively.

Process

Planning, delivery, scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, procurement, and closure.

A gap here makes it difficult to distinguish analysis, formal control, and execution steps in the correct sequence.

Business Environment

Governance, compliance, value delivery, organizational change, and external context.

A gap here can cause local project decisions to ignore regulation, benefits, strategy, or organizational readiness.

A reliable scenario method

  • Identify the actual problem before choosing an action.
  • Check the delivery approach, role, governance constraint, and missing information.
  • Prefer understanding and collaboration before unnecessary escalation.
  • Review the option against value, compliance, and the correct decision sequence.

How to practice

For each scenario, identify the people affected, the missing conversation, and the least escalatory action that protects the team and value.

Classify every wrong answer by the decision rule that failed. This produces a reusable correction instead of memorizing one option.
